Timekeeping & Payroll
Pay Scales
Pay scale and skill level information is available in each unit.
WORKDAY
We use Workday to clock in and out for shifts. Your Manager will familiarize you with this process at the beginning of your first shift. Failure to consistently clock in and out appropriately may result in disciplinary action. Employees are to be ready to work upon clocking in.
Download the Workday app onto your phone. The domain name is WSU. You will login with your WSU credentials. If you are unable to download the app on your phone, discuss how to clock in and out with your manager.
CHECKING YOUR TIME
Please review your time at the end of each shift. Entering and submitting time are two separate steps. Make sure you enter your time and then immediately submit your time after every shift. Did you select the correct position? Did you remember to clock out?
PAYCHECKS
Washington State University pays its employees twice a month, on the 10th and 25th. The first pay period of every month is from the first day to the fifteenth. The second pay period is from the sixteenth to the last day of each month.
If the 10th or 25th falls on a Saturday, the payday will be on the previous Friday. If the 10th or 25th falls on a Sunday, the payday will be on the following Monday.
It may take as long as six weeks to receive your first paycheck, depending on when you were hired and when you submitted your new hire paperwork.
Sign up for direct deposit within Workday. A direct deposit how-to is in your hiring packet paperwork.
If you don't sign up for direct deposit our paychecks will be mailed to you at the address marked as "Mailing" on file in Workday. You can update this address at any time in Workday.
WORK STUDY
This is a work study eligible job. If you received a work study award, please forward your eligibility letter to your hiring manager. If you would like to apply for work study, ask the hiring manager for more information. When your work study award is exhausted, you will remain employed and receive student wages according to the student wage scale.
